M&T Bank Dance Series welcomes Ballet Folklórico de Antioquia, Colombia

The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo, will present Ballet Folklórico de Antioquia, Colombia on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre, located at the Center for the Arts, North Campus. The performance is sponsored by M&T Bank.

The members of Ballet Folklórico de Antioquia, Colombia have one mission: to spread the multicultural richness of Colombian culture. In a celebration of Colombian folklore in its many manifestations, the company offers an experience of authentic music, dance, and physical theatre accentuated with brilliantly colored and scintillating costumes. The group features 20 dancers and eight musicians.

Recognized for its elegance, excellence and high technical level of dance, Ballet Folklórico de Antioquia, Colombia has been enjoying a rapidly expanding international reputation in addition to its many awards and special appearances. The company won a Gold Medal at the Stylized Folk Olympics in France and the title of "Perfección" at the 25th annual International Festival in Quebec. Ballet Folklórico also received a special recognition as the best Latin American company to take part in the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 - the first Colombian group to ever participate in such an event.
