Grand Island basketball player Kallie Banker is on the verge of setting a GIHS record for scoring.

Banker scored her career 1,500th point in a 53-34 win over Kenmore East, the same night her mother registered her 300th career coaching victory. Kallie followed up with 11 points in a 44-39 loss to Lockport Jan. 17 and, heading into Thursday night's game at Niagara Falls, needed eight points to set the overall GIHS basketball scoring record of 1,518 set by boys recordholder Carlin Hartman (1988-90).
