Niagara Hospice announces January groups and workshops

Niagara Hospice recently announced its schedule of January community support groups and workshops. Grief support groups are designed to provide education and support to people in the community to help them navigate the journey of grief and adapt to their losses in a healthy way. The caregiver empowerment workshop aims to help make caring for a loved one less stressful and more meaningful for caregivers.

Groups are held in Lockport at the Niagara Hospice Resource Center in the Ulrich City Centre, 175 Walnut St., Suite 4, and in Niagara Falls at the John Duke Senior Center, 1201 Hyde Park Blvd.

The January schedule is as follows:

•"Growing Through Grief" at the Lockport location on Tuesday, Jan. 10, and at the Niagara Falls location Thursday, Jan. 26. Both run from 6 to 7 p.m.

•Newly bereaved workshop at the Lockport location, first part on Thursday, Jan. 12, and the second part on Thursday, Jan. 19, both from 6 to 7:30 p.m. At the Niagara Falls location, the first workshop is held Wednesday, Jan. 11, and the second on Wednesday, Jan. 18, also from 1 until 2:30 p.m.

•Journaling workshop at the Lockport location on Tuesday, Jan. 10, from 5 to 6 p.m.

•Bereavement coffee hour at the Lockport location on Friday, Jan. 13, and at the Niagara Falls location on Friday, Jan. 20. Both are 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

•Grieving the loss of a pet workshop at the Lockport location on Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 5 until 6 p.m.

•Caregiver empowerment at the Niagara Falls location on Friday, Jan. 27, from 2 until 3 p.m.

Registration is required for all groups. To register or for more information about any of these groups, call the Niagara Hospice Outreach Department at 280-0777 or visitwww.NiagaraHospice.org. Trained professionals facilitate all groups and all members of the community are welcome, whether or not they have experienced hospice care.
