Chris Castellani, president of Supermarket Liquors and Wines, recently completed a fundraising effort to benefit the Toys for Tots fund, a program initiated by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Company I, Third Battalion, of the 25th Marines, which coordinates the Western New York campaign.

Contributions collected at Supermarket Liquors totaled $481. Castellani matched this contribution with another $3,000. Additionally, patrons filled two barrels of toys that were delivered to underprivileged children through the Toys for Tots program.

Castellani credits the success of this program locally to Chairman Joe Moreno, a retired Marine who has worked tirelessly for the success of this program.

"I am committed to this program because of the tremendous effort that Joe and the Marines put forth each year," Castellani said. "He is exceptionally dedicated to this cause."

Moreno pointed out that all of the funds and toys collected in Western New York stay in this community. All were distributed to needy families in time for the holidays.

In addition to his contribution to Toys for Tots, Castellani and Supermarket Liquors and Wines also contributed $1,000 to the United Way of Niagara and $1,000 to the Niagara Falls Firefighters Toy Fund this holiday season.
