Lewiston restaurant Brio will re-open to the public on Wednesday, Dec. 21, owner Mike Wylke said Thursday. In the meantime, customers are encouraged to continue utilizing the pizzeria via takeout and delivery orders. To place an order, call 754-2707.
In the early hours of Dec. 4, an electrical fire damaged the second floor of 440 Center St., a vacant apartment above Brio, and caused smoke and water damage to the eatery. No one was injured, but the fire has ravaged the building's top level.
"No one's going to be living up there anytime soon," Wylke said.
In fact, the restaurateur is considering making his pizzeria two floors.
"I'm thinking about putting a patio deck on the upstairs," Wylke said. The second level would have a bar and additional seating for Brio customers.
Wylke said Brio cleanup would begin on Monday.
