Porter man recovers from stabbing

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office reports that one Town of Porter man is now recovering from injuries and another town resident faces follow-up court appearances following a stabbing incident that occurred Friday, Dec. 2, at a residence on 3309 Creek Road.

The NCSO reported that Brian Schmiege, 24, of Porter, was stabbed in the abdomen during an altercation with Keith Blose, 27, also from Porter. Blose was taken into custody by NCSO Inv. Daniel Brown and charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Blose was arraigned in the Porter Town Court on a bail of $10,000 cash or $20,000 property, and was scheduled for a return date at Porter Town Court on Dec. 7.

Schmiege was treated at the scene by Youngstown and Upper Mountain volunteer fire companies and transported to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo by Mercy Flight. He under went treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
