Lewiston Public Library December programs, events and activities

The Lewiston Public Library, 305 S. Eighth St., in the Village of Lewiston, announces the following programs, events and activities for the month of December.

Family Programs

•On Saturday, Dec. 3, the Lewiston Public Library will participate in the Village Christmas Walk with a time of stories, crafts and hot chocolate starting at 10:30 a.m. Activities are open to all ages.

•On Saturday, Dec. 17, Santa will visit the library from 1 to 2:30 p.m. All are invited to join in for a time of stories, crafts and visit with Santa. Registration is required.

•Arts and crafts are being offered for children with Open Ended Art, on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 1:30 p.m.

•The Cowboy/Cowgirl Roundup takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. Children are welcome for cowpoke stories, games and crafts. Dress up as a cowboy/cowgirl and get your picture taken for the library's "Wanted" poster. Registration is required.

•The Niagara Falls Aquarium will present "Penguin Power" on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. Registration is required.

•Pre-K painting with Miss Val Teal, for children ages 2 to 5, will be offered Friday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. Registration is required.

Clubs and More

•The Dead Beats Society will meet on Monday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. in the Local History Room. Call Michelle at the library for details, or email at [email protected].

•The Lewiston Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 1:30 p.m. For further information, contact Anita Mallimo at 754-7714.

•A Word Intermediate Computer Class will be offered Thursday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is required

•Moms Book Chat, a book discussion group for moms will meet Thursday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. Discussed will be "A Reliable Wife," by Robert Goolrick.

•The Knitting Club meets every Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. No registration is required and knitters of all skill levels are welcome. For more information, contact Ellen Comerford at 754-4144.

•The Lewiston Writers' Group will meet on Mondays, Dec. 12 and 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lewiston Public Library. For more information, visit www.lewistonwritersgroup.com

•The Friends of the Lewiston Public Library maintain a Used Book Room all year long; it's open during library hours. Items for sale include fiction, non-fiction, and children's materials.

•December meetings for the month include the Lewiston Library board of trustees, Monday, Dec. 5, at 5 p.m.; and Friends of the Library, Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m.

Weekly Story Time

•Alphabet Soup with Miss Ann, for children ages 3 to 5, is held on Mondays, Dec. 5 and 12, at 10:30 a.m.

•Lap sit story time with Miss Ann, for children age birth to 23 months, is held on Wednesdays, Dec. 7 and 14, at 9:30 a.m.

•Toddler hour with Miss Ann, for children ages 24 months to 3 years, is held on Wednesdays, Dec. 7 and 14, at 10:30 a.m.

•Story time with Mrs. Leardini, for children of all ages, is held on Thursdays, Dec. 1, 8 and 15, at 10:30 a.m.

Library hours: Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Lewiston Public Library will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 24, for Christmas Eve and Saturday, Dec. 31, for New Year's Eve.
