Building bridges for veteran traffic safetyby jmaloni
Reckless and impaired driving is among the leading causes of combat veterans dying or serving jail time when they return home.
On Dec. 8, the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee, the New York State Association of Traffic Safety Boards and the Department of Veterans Affairs will present a free conference to veterans, their families, law enforcement and community leaders to connect veterans with highway safety and injury prevention programs, resources and educational materials.
The conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station's Heritage Community Activity Center. Lunch and materials will be provided.
To register, contact Joan Chipps of the VA Western New York Healthcare System at 862-3123 or Jennifer Weise of the Buffalo Vet Center at 862-7350.
