Obit -- Marion Mancuso

"Marion the Barber"

Marion "the Barber" Mancuso, entered into rest Nov. 15, 2011.

Mancuso, a resident of Grand Island, owned the Grand Island Barber Shop in the Grand Island Plaza from the late 1960s until he retired in 2008, earning the  nickname "Mayor of the Plaza."

He taught at John Roberts Barber School in Buffalo. He was also a member of the Grand Island Lions Club and started the annual Lions Club Spaghetti Dinner.

He was the husband of 59 years of Lena (DiCara) Mancuso, and father of Arlene (Gillman) Clark. He was grandfather of Cody (Natalie) and Sam Clark; brother of Mary (Sam) Crea and the late Russell, Augie, Joe, Sam and Carm. He was the son of the late Frank and Bessi Mancuso. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Thursday at the Kaiser Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today, Friday, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Stephen R.C. Church, 2100 Baseline Road. Interment will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.
