The official installation of New York DECA members took place at Salvatore's Italian Gardens last Tuesday night. The Grand Island High School DECA chapter boasts more than 100 members this year, and advisor Cheryl Chamberlain recently took over leadership for all of the Western New York Region 12 DECA Chapters.

"Our membership really exploded this year," Chamberlain noted. This membership boom is due in part to the exciting leadership program that DECA promotes. Students compete in business-related events, but also learn the skills necessary to make themselves stand out in their chosen career. Networking, communication skills, and business etiquette are just a few of the many areas DECA develops in their membership. In addition, the Grand Island DECA chapter is involved in community events and volunteering throughout the school year.

For more information on DECA, contact Chamberlain at 773-8820.
