Nik Wallenda will appear before the Niagara Parks Commission Nov. 16 to discuss his application to walk on a three-inch wire across the Niagara Gorge between Canada and the United States.

NPC interim chairwoman Janice Thomson confirmed Tuesday that Wallenda submitted his request online and that she approved his appearance at the next meeting in a little more than two weeks.

"He has followed the process," she said. "He submitted some detailed information."

Thomson said the Wallenda portion of the regular NPC meeting would be held in public.

Wallenda is part of the famed Great Wallendas circus family from Florida. He has made at least two trips to Niagara in the last six months to drum up support for his bid, including meeting in the summer with NPC general manager Fay Booker. He was in Niagara Falls just two weeks ago when, with HBO crews in tow, he met with Mayor Jim Diodati and MPP Kim Craitor, both of whom are solidly in his corner.

That might not be enough.
