On Sunday, Oct. 16, visitors are invited to the Nature Center at Bond Lake Park on Lower Mountain Road in Ransomville to learn about "The Secret World of Bats." The program will begin at 1 p.m. with a tour of the Nature Center. Visitors can view a model of a bat house and see samples of the typical residents that reside therein. At 1:20 p.m. there will be a showing of the movie "The Secret World of Bats." Bat Conservation International released this 48-minute DVD for CBS in 2005. It captures all aspects of bat behaviors across five continents.
Following the movie, visitors can participate in a number of activities, including interacting with a bat house builder, enjoy stories written for children about bats, or go on a self-guided scavenger hunt searching for bats, if the weather permits. A harvest basket will be awarded to the individual who spots the most bats on the hike. The program is a free event sponsored by the Bond Lake Park Environmental and Beautification Committee. It is expected to end around 3 p.m.
