Ceretto questions state for using economic development funds to move jobs out of Niagara County

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, sent a letter Wednesday to Kenneth Adams, president and CEO of Empire State Development. Ceretto questioned the economic development corporation for using $700,000 in taxpayer money to lure Unifrax away from Niagara Falls and help them expand operations in Erie County's Town of Tonawanda.

"This substantial economic development funding should have been used to help the company expand here, not in Erie County," Ceretto said. "For a city that is hemorrhaging jobs and people, having Empire State Development actively encourage that exodus is upsetting. The $700,000 should have been used as an incentive to help Unifrax expand operations here, not in Erie County."
