A tribute dinner for the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at The Buffalo Club.

Chaired by Buffalo resident Francis J. Offerman Jr. and his wife, Anne, this annual event has funded many of the needs of the elderly and infirm sisters who reside in the health center at the Stella Niagara mother house in Lewiston.

The highlight of the evening will be a silent auction, and this year's items include a week's vacation in a luxury villa at Ocean Beach Isle, N.C., sommelier-chosen wine baskets, autographed hockey memorabilia from the Bruins, Sabres and Blackhawks, and choice tickets for sporting events, such as Notre Dame football and the Buffalo Bills, Sabres and Bisons.

Other noteworthy items include a private suite for a Sabres game, and original works of art. Theater and dinner packages will be available for bid.

Assisting the Offermanns are dinner committee members Caroline Buerk, Delphine Burgio, Dorothy Cosgrove, David Cristantello, Ph.D., Amy Habib, Sister DeSales Hattenberger, Lizzie Jacobs, Pamela Jacobs-Vogt, Thomas Jambro, Ph.D., Katherine Juhasz, Ann Nicholson Wright, Betty Tzetzo, Carolyn Vujnovic and Judy Weidemann.
