Four Airmen from the New York Air National Guard's 107th Airlift Wing, based at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, finished third in a shooting competition that pitted the best National Guard teams from the northeast against each other.

The four Airmen - Master Sgt. Edward Stefik of Lewiston, Tech Sgt. Christopher Doherty of Tonawanda, Tech Sgt. Warren Jones, of Rochester and Staff Sgt. Erik Johnson of Pittsford - finished first in the New York National Guard marksmanship competition in April and went on to represent New York at the regional competition at Fort Devens, Mass.

The team from the 107th Security Forces Squadron, who dubbed themselves the "Gun Fighters" placed third overall. The team finished second in the Close Quarters Battle Match competition and third in the Team Run Down Match.

Stefik received two individual awards: second place in the Combat Rifle Reflexive Fire Competition and third place in the Close Quarters Battle Match.

The 107th Gun Fighters will now go on to the National Winston P. Wilson Small Arms Sustainment Match at Camp Robinson, Ark., later this year.
