Niagara Region Wind Corp. shrugged off any possible impact of next month's provincial election and announced Tuesday it has partnered with a private German company to manufacture 77 wind turbines at two facilities to be constructed somewhere in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Representatives from Niagara Region Wind Corp. and Enercon, a global leader in wind technology based in Aurich, Germany, also said they have reached an agreement to operate and maintain the turbines at the proposed wind farms in west Niagara.

Last February, NRWC signed a feed-in tariff contract with the Ontario government for a $530 million, 230-megawatt wind-power project. The initiative, which will provide enough power for 70,000 homes, includes Pelham, West Lincoln, Wainfleet and parts of Haldimand County.
