Conferences generate more than $450,000 to local economy

The Niagara Tourism & Convention Corporation announces three conferences will bring more than 700 visitors to Niagara USA over the next week, which will translate into an economic impact of approximately $450,000 to local businesses.

The NTCC is playing a role in each of the conferences and will disseminate pertinent tourism-related information to each of the groups.

From Sept. 25-28. New York State Magistrates and New York State Court Clerks will hold their annual statewide conferences at the Conference Center Niagara Falls. The groups have booked rooms at the Holiday Inn Niagara Falls and Sheraton at the Falls. Approximately 300 attendees are expected at this conference, generating an economic impact of $172,000.

From Sept. 23-25, the New York State Nurses Association will bring more than 400 to the Conference Center Niagara Falls for its annual statewide meeting. More than 400 attendees have booked hotel rooms at Sheraton At The Falls, the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel and the Hampton Inn

Niagara Falls. In total, the group will generate more than $230,000 in economic impact.

From Sept. 20 to Sept. 21, the US-China Business and Trade Development Conference was held at the Conference Center Niagara Falls. This meeting attracted approximately 200 businesses representing various industries and government officials in foreign trade and business development. The group booked rooms at the Sheraton At The Falls.

"These three diverse conferences cap off a month, which featured numerous conferences and conventions in Niagara USA and a tourism season which placed Niagara Falls as the eighth most visited destination in America according to Forbes." said John H. Percy, president and CEO of the Niagara Tourism and Convention Corp. " The mission of the NTCC is to positively effect the economic prosperity of Niagara USA through individual and group visitation. The influx of conferences throughout the month of September continued to highlight Niagara USA as a premier conference and convention destination and bring thousands of conference attendees to the region."

In addition, NTCC - through its greeter program - provided these conference and convention groups with valuable tourism-related information and collateral information, highlighting the unique, one- of-a-kind attractions found across the region.
