Agnes "Angie" Johnston, a resident at The McGuire Group's Northgate Health Care Facility in Wheatfield, celebrated her 100th birthday on Sept. 1.  Fellow resident Victoria Wegrzyn celebrated her 100th birthday on Sept. 15.

Johnston was born Agnes Breier in Buffalo, and was married to the late Dr. George David Johnston on Sept. 29, 1950. The couple met while working together in a science lab and resided in the home they built on Ruie Road in North Tonawanda.

Angie worked in the experimental lab at Durez Plastics in North Tonawanda. She enjoyed quilt making as hobby and received the honor of Quilter of the Year in 1950. She also taught sewing at a local community school.

She became a resident at Northgate Health Care Facility in October of 2010. She enjoys her privacy and spending time with her friends who visit daily.  She stated that "good health" was her secret to a long life.

Wegrzyn was born Victoria Lopacki in Niagara Falls, and was married to the late Stanley Wegrzyn for 48 years. They were both active in Holy Trinity Church in Niagara Falls and attended weekly dances together. The couple lived in North Tonawanda and the Town of Niagara.

Wegrzyn was a homemaker for more than 30 years and cleaned the homes of many influential residents in Lewiston. She enjoyed crocheting, attending her grandchildren's sporting events and gardening.

She has four children, Stanley, Robert, Jean and the late Judith, 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
