Town of Niagara Police Blotter for Sept. 1

The following is a sampling of calls taken by the Town of Niagara Police from Aug. 11 to 21.

Thursday, Aug. 11

•Multiple locations, larceny. Two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old were arrested in connection with overnight larcenies from vehicles on Sunnydale Road, Crestview Drive and Beechwood Circle.

•4800 block of Isherwood Drive, fraud. Complainant reported that a man claiming to be from "Winners International" called and said the complainant had won $250,000 and needed to send in $750 to receive it.

•Juanita Drive, vandalism. Resident reported someone shot out the rear window of his girlfriend's vehicle.

•3100 block of Woodland Avenue, harassment. Resident reported that a female neighbor was yelling profanities at his family because they called the police on her last month. After leaving the scene, patrol received a call that she had started again.

Friday, Aug. 12

•3300 block of Hyde Park Boulevard, burglary. Patrol responded to a burglar alarm at a business. Security footage showed two black males, who broke the door glass to get inside, quickly exited after the alarm sounded. While patrol was on scene, Niagara Falls Police were called to a burglary at 19th Street and Welch Avenue. Description of suspects matched.

•3000 block of Military Road, burglary. Business owner reported finding the front door to the business punched out and the phone lines cut in the back of the building.

•2400 block of Military Road, vandalism. Complainant reported power meter ripped off the wall at the back of the building overnight at his business.

•3500 block of Rhode Island Avenue, suspicious person. Complainant reported a man going door-to-door selling raffle tickets. Patrol found the man and advised him a permit was needed.

Saturday, Aug. 13

•Juanita Drive, assault. A 23-year-old man was arrested after he punched a woman friend, breaking her eye socket and nose.

•3200 block of Bellreng Drive, check situation. An intoxicated woman called 911 when she awoke and did not realize that she was in her apartment.

•Third Avenue, reckless driving. Residents reported multiple speeding vehicles in area.

Sunday, Aug. 14

•Lockport at Military Road, traffic infraction. Driver observed not wearing a seat belt and driving through a red light.

•4100 block of Military Road, juvenile problem. Three juveniles found hanging out at rear of school; dispersed.

•1900 block of Military Road, larceny from vehicle. Complainant said after returning to her car after work, she discovered that her glasses, $20 and several tools were missing.

Monday, Aug. 15

•1900 block of Military Road, check situation. Complainant reported that while he was at work, a window in his van was broken out.

•1900 block of Tuscarora Road, check situation. Patrol responded to an open burn complaint and advised the homeowner of the complaint.

•8000 block of Hickory Lane, larceny from vehicle. Resident reported someone entered his vehicle and removed approximately $8 in change.

Tuesday, Aug. 16

•200 block of Juanita Drive, animal complaint. Baby possum loose in the bedroom; freed by patrol.

•Joanne Circle, vandalism. While on patrol, officer noticed empty egg cartons on the road and several vehicles that had been egged.

•8500 block of Porter Road, larceny from vehicle. Complainant reported someone took the rear tailgate off his truck.

•4600 block of John Street, burglary. Resident reported that during the past two weeks, someone stole two revolvers from his bedroom.

•2300 block Tuscarora Road, burglary. Resident reported someone broke a window with a rock, damaged a door to enter a locked bedroom and took collectors coins valued at $200.

Wednesday, Aug. 17

•8500 block of Porter Road, domestic. Complainant said his wife pushed him during an argument over not consummating their marriage. The wife said he tripped over a rug. Complainant, who was taken to Mount St. Mary's Hospital for treatment, wanted to press charges but did not want his wife removed from their home. Patrol issued appearance tickets for harassment in the second degree and assault in the third degree.

•7200 block of St. Joseph Road, juvenile problem. Patrol was dispatched to a fight between 10-year-old boys. Patrol spoke with the parents and resolved the issue.

•8500 block of Porter Road, larceny from vehicle. Complainant said someone stole a prescription bottle of pills from his unlocked vehicle.

Thursday, Aug. 18

•2900 block of Lockport Road, fraud. Complainant reported someone used her debit/credit card for an unauthorized purchase of $211.70.

•4700 block of Chester Avenue, harassment. Complainant said his ex-girlfriend sent him numerous harassing text messages. Girlfriend stated that he usually initiates the contact.

•Military at Packard Road, traffic violation. Driver observed stopped and blocking the intersection, then driving through a red light.

Friday, Aug. 19

•1500 block of Military Road, suspicious person. Complainant reported a white male with a stubby beard and glasses, wearing a yellow baseball hat, and driving a gray Honda, was taping her 12-year-old daughter with his iPhone. Patrol checked area with negative results.

•7700 block of Porter Road, larceny. Complainant reported about 10 feet of copper pipe with brass plumbing fixture was taken from the building.

•8100 block of Packard Road, local law violation. Subjects reported working in town blacktopping driveways without a proper permit. Subjects advised, but went back to work. Appearance tickets issued.

•1100 block of Saunders Settlement Road, aid assist. Patrol assisted State Police with a traffic stop. Vehicle failed to yield to police car for a quarter mile and occupant was being hostile.

•3100 block of Woodland Avenue, noise complaint. Complainant reported sound of a gunshot. Patrol checked area with negative results.

Saturday, Aug. 20

•7500 block of Recovery Road, possible disturbance. Patrol checked report of a large party in a wooded area. Patrol found a going away party in progress. Group was not unruly.

•3300 block of Hyde Park Boulevard, burglary. Patrol responded to business on a burglary alarm and found a glass door broken with a brick. Security footage showed two males entering the store and taking cigarettes and lottery tickets, then leaving in less than two minutes.

•7600 block of Porter Road, larceny. Complainant reported someone took two 12-speed bikes and broke a small spruce tree in his yard. Numerous cans and bottles were left in the yard.

•7000 block of Lockport Road, driving while intoxicated. Patrol observed a vehicle almost strike another vehicle while making a turn. A 20-year-old Wilson man was arrested for DWI.

Sunday, Aug. 21

•2100 block of Main Street, Niagara Falls, aid assist. Niagara Falls Police responded for a call of shots fired and multiple victims. Patrol assisted with crowd control of a very large and aggressive group. Patrol also assisted Falls Police with groups gathering to fight in the 400 block of Third Street and the 1800 block of Pierce Avenue. In the latter incident, the group, which was blocking the roadway, dispersed when rain began to fall.

•2500 block of Military Road, DWI. A 28-year-old Lewiston man was stopped for speeding, then arrested for DWI.

•Blank Road, assist fire department. Patrol dispatched on a fire alarm. Niagara Active Hose and Lewiston No. 2 volunteer fire departments were on the scene. Alarm was set off by burned food.
