Art Festival winners

The Lewiston Council on the Arts has announced the 2011 Lewiston Art Festival winners:

•Best of Show: Christopher Stangler, "Futures," mixed media.

•Painting, oil and acrylic: first, Ilania Kaplan Stangler, "Surface Study," oil; second, Judith Hartke, "Eye of the Beholder," oil; third, Tony Mauro, "Corkscrew," oil; honorable mention, Douglas Mess, "Edward Hopper Dreams," oil.

•Painting, watercolor: first, Yenfen Huang, "9 Koi"; second, Michael McMahon, "Massachusetts Farm Landscape"; third, Kathleen Dworak, "Study in Chrome & Vermillion"; honorable mention, Frederick Raiser, "Little Feet."

•Photography: first, John Parascak, "Islomania"; second, Thomas Garwol, "Juno Pier"; third, David Reade, "Bridge Over Frozen Waters"; honorable mention, Vincent Agnello, "Follow the Sun."

•Graphic arts and drawing: first, Kathleen McDonnell, "On a Stormy Day," pastel; second Michael Smith, "Like Mother Like Daughter," pen and ink: third, Kelly Coddington, "Norwegian Fjord," charcoal; honorable mention, Ashley Takacs, "Cargil Grain Elevator," graphic print.

•Sculpture: first, Dara Gildner, "In Celebration of Cats," paper sculpture; second, William Hunter III, "Gone Fishing," ceramic with crystalline glaze; third, Emily Chamberlain, "Creature of Habit," ceramic; honorable mention, Dale Bosworth, "Juxtaposition # 1," marble.

•Mixed media: first, Doreen Cutting, "Falls-ominous"; second, Suzanne Mair, "Iris in Prague"; third, JoAnn Vanderheite, "Storyteller Vixen Doll"; honorable mention, Susan Sullivan, "Croton."

•Artistic craft, jewelry: first, Michael Stephens, "Reflections Through Time," mixed media necklace; second, Geri Lynn, "Beautiful Morning," sterling necklace; Betty Stephan, "Chione," beaded necklace; honorable mention, Liz Kain, "Lake Ontario," bracelet in stone and sterling.

•Artistic craft, other (glass, wood, jewelry, etc.): first, Stephanie Dukat, "Structures above Vessel," ceramic; second, Howard Miller, unititied turned wood bowl; third, William Shearrow, "Carved Raku," porcelain; honorable mention, Dan Bi, "Autumn," paper.

•KeyBank Chalk Walk Competition: first, Grand Island; second, West Seneca West Team 2; third, West Seneca West Team 3; People's Choice, tie between Niagara Falls and Lewiston-Porter; President's Choice, West Seneca West Team 1.
