This year, the Grand Island Lions Club's Special Kids Picnic entertained more than 800 kids and their chaperones to a day of food and fun, including boat rides, pony rides, face painting, music, hot dogs and hamburgers. The Lions rely on donations from the community to fund this event.
The Knights of Columbus Mary Star of the Sea Council 4752 was again successful on Saturday, July 16, with its chicken dinner and Vegas Night and has donated $200 to the Lions to help fund the picnic. Presenting is Brian Mongielo, chairman of the Vegas Night, and Anne Fahning, president of the Grand Island Lions Club, accepting the donation. Not pictured is Chris Beyer, chairman of the chicken dinner.
As this has become an annual event for the Knights of Columbus, Island support in the future is appreciated.
