Counties to jointly place bridge back in service

Ribbon cutting marks cooperative effort by Niagara, Erie

Niagara and Erie county officials will jointly cut a ribbon dedicating the new Cedar Street-Foote Road Bridge over the Tonawanda Creek between the towns of Royalton and Newstead today.

Niagara County Legislature Majority Leader Rick Updegrove, Erie County Executive Chris Collins, and other top regional officials will be on-hand to cut the ribbon marking the formal dedication of the new bridge. 

The bridge was constructed through federal funds awarded to Niagara and Erie counties, with Niagara County's Public Works Department managing the nearly two-year construction project.  The two counties will jointly own and maintain the bridge.

WHO:  Niagara County Legislature Majority Leader Rick Updegrove, Niagara County Legislator David Godfrey, Erie County Executive Chris Collins, other top regional officials.                                                      

WHAT:  Cutting ribbon on Cedar Street-Foote Road Bridge spanning Tonawanda Creek, a $2 million construction project.

WHEN:  Thursday, July 21, 3 p.m.                  

WHERE:  Foote Road, Town of Royalton/Cedar Street, Town of Newstead—Foote Road can be accessed from State Route 93 (Akron Road/Maple Road).
