Rotary wraps up successful yearby Marwa
The Grand Island Rotary Club concluded its year with a wrap-up meeting at the Buffalo Launch Club recently.
Now past president of the Rotary, Steve Kaplan, reviewed the year's activities, particularly to thank everyone for their efforts Kaplan, pictured at top, right, with Past President John White, received his second Paul Harris Fellowship award to commemorate his year. Paul Harris Awards include a $1,000 donation to the RI Foundation in the recipient's honor.
Kaplan now turns the reins of the club over to new president Gary Roesch.
Paul Harris Awards also went to Grand Island Rotarians:
•Angelo Grande (pictured below at left), "for his extensive, and productive, activities for youth, particularly keeping Interact active," according to the Rotary.
•Sonia Castilo-Smith, "for her tireless activities in recent LobsterFests, and the excellent High School Student Honoring Dinner.
Rotarian Dick Earne brought an RI Presidential Citation with Distinction to the club. The club earned the award this year for activities in all areas of Rotary interest, and by its support of district activities. (photos courtesy Rich Smith)
