Everyone had a job at the St. Martin-in-the-Field's annual chicken barbecue and auction. The event took place July 9 at 2587 Baseline Road. Dave Smith, food chairman of the event, said 1,000 chicken dinners were served. Above, BW's Smokin' Barrels Barbecue provided the chicken. Money from the event goes in part to fund the Journey to Adulthood program. "We have a major pilgrimage every other year," said the Rev. Earle King of St. Martin's, pictured at right with William Franklin,  bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York.

"We've had about 20 kids go to the Holy Land in the last three trips, so it's been pretty powerful in their lives. It's changed their lives a lot. God's blessed them in lots of ways."

"It's great seeing people from the community. That's why I came today, because I just wanted to say how important I think it is for the bishop to be present and also to welcome people to the Episcopal Church," said Franklin.

Dave Smith, food chairman of the event, said would serve 1,000 chicken dinners.
