Live music, fireworks, food and family fun headline festival

The fourth annual fundraiser for the Porter on the Lake Park will be held on Sunday, July 3.  In previous years, this event was held on Labor Day and referred to as Porter on the Lake Fest. The event was re-named and the date was changed to accommodate the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co.'s Labor Day Field Days, which is returning this year.

Summerfest will feature an unforgettable day of music, great food and fun. Gates open at 2 p.m. and close at 11 p.m. Fireworks will be featured at 10 p.m.

The Toronto skyline and the blue waters of Lake Ontario are a picturesque backdrop for a stage that will host three well-known, award-winning Western New York musical acts, including 90 West, JJ Swing and Rip and the Bandogs.

Proceeds from the beer tent will be shared with the Youngstown and Ransomville Volunteer Fire companies.

In addition to musical entertainment, there will be food vendors and many activities for children and families, including coloring, a bounce house, a petting zoo, pony rides and more.

The premier sponsor of this event is Waste Management. Corporate sponsors include the Modern Corporation, Mark Cerrone Inc., and Sevenson Environmental Services Inc.  Conestoga-Rovers & Associates and Certo Brothers Distributing Co. are patron level sponsors, and Brown and Company is an associate sponsor.

Co-chairs are Porter residents Linda White and her husband, Town of Porter Councilman Larry White, as well as Gloria Baker and her husband, Councilman Jeff Baker.

"The purpose of this event is to showcase our park and also to generate revenue for capital improvements," Jeff Baker said. "The park is free to the pubic 364 days a year.  On this one day, we are asking for a donation of $5 per adult (children are free)."

For more information or to volunteer, contact Linda White at 745-1176 or Gloria Baker at 754-2901.
