The Youngstown Free Library is now on Facebook. "One way to learn about events, new materials or to check on our hours is to 'like' the library on Facebook," says the library's Jan Gilgore.

She reports the summer reading program "One World Many Stories" begins in late June at the Youngstown Free Library. Other activities include:

•On Mondays beginning June 27, the library Drama Club will meet at 1 p.m. in the gym. "This program is planned for comfortable readers," says Gilgore. "This year they will work on presentations coming from stories and myths from around the world."

•Mondays at 4 p.m. will be craft time.

•The Town of Porter Story hour will meet Tuesdays at 10 a.m. for 6 weeks beginning June 28. The program will include special guests and activities.

•On June 28, the Buffalo Museum of Science will bring its "Digging up Dinosaurs" program; July 5 the Aquarium Touch Tank will visit; "Clumsy the Clown" will entertain library visitors on July 12; and the Buffalo Zoo Trunk will appear on July 19, with the visit broken down into two groups. The first will visit at 10 a.m. that day, the second at 10:35 a.m. Local favorite Glenn Colton will sing for Youngstown on July 26, and on Aug. 2, "Kids on the Block puppets" will be welcomed.

•The library will join the Village of Youngstown Recreation Program at Falkner Park each Wednesday with a story hour and craft time. Amanda Free, summer reading program coordinator, the NIOGA roving storytellers and community members will read stories and do activities each Wednesday at 1 p.m. The program begins June 29. All Wednesday story hours will be held in the library in the event of rain.

•On Thursdays beginning June 30, the library will hold "Destination Libraryland" at 11 a.m. for six weeks. Featured will be stories, games, and music from around the world.

•Toddler and parent story hour will meet each Friday at 9:30 a.m. beginning July 1 and continuing to Aug. 8.

Gilgore adds that the library's Reading at Home Club will also be part of summer reading. "Stop by the library beginning June 20 to register for any of the 'One World Many Stories' programs."

"The Youngstown Free Library wishes to thank Tina Oddy and all the Builders Club participants for their excellent work, doing monthly Saturday story hours," says Gilgore. "All of us at the library are looking forward to the Lewiston-Porter Builders Club return in October of 2011."

In other news, Lewiston-Porter kindergartens will be visiting the library and village in very early June for a tour and stories. Kindergarten artwork will be on display in the children's room until June 4. And Sandra Heath is currently displaying her artwork in the library's Reading Room.

The Youngstown Free Library is open Monday to Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The library will be closed for the summer on Saturdays, beginning June 25. Saturday hours will resume on Sept. 10.
