Meet the candidates at N-W

A Meet the Candidates Night for the Niagara-Wheatfield Central School District will be held at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, May 5, in the Adult Learning Center at N-W High School.

Eleven candidates will be running for four open seats on the N-W Board of Education this year. The three candidates with the highest number of votes will win three-year terms. The fourth place finisher will fill the remaining year in former board member Lori Pittman's term. Election of both the board members and for approval of the school district's proposed $62.9 million budget will be Tuesday, May 17.

This year's Meet the Candidates Night will consist of three three-minute questions per board candidate. Candidates will discuss their answers to questions about themselves, their background and how they can be an asset on the board of education. They will describe their goals and how they believe those goals can be implemented. Candidates, listed in the order they will appear on the ballot, are: Demosthenes "Denny" Klidonas of the Town of Niagara; Rich Halleen of Town of Niagara; Kevin Smith (incumbent) of Wheatfield; Daniel Maerten of Wheatfield; Christopher Peters of Wheatfield; William Conrad (incumbent) of Town of Lewiston; Richard Sirianni of the Town of Lewiston; David Breier of Wheatfield; Steven Sabo of Wheatfield; Joe Tortorella of Wheatfield; Michele Hoerner (incumbent) of Wheatfield.
