Trustees in the Village of Lewiston will discuss the budget for fiscal year 2011-12 tonight during a public hearing in conjunction with the board's monthly work session. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Village of Lewiston Hall, corner of North Fourth and Ridge streets.

While nothing is set in stone at this point, the proposed tax rate is hovering around $7.19 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, a 95-cent increase over the current $6.24 figure. The raised fee would reflect additional state costs levied against the municipality, which trustees will discuss in more detail at the meeting.

"We're doing due diligence and trying to keep it as low as possible," Mayor Terry Collesano recently said.

The current budget is $2,931,181.

A second public hearing tonight involves a proposal to adjust parking on Tuesday nights to better accommodate traffic associated with the "Tuesday in the Park" concert series at Artpark.
