The 2011 season is just weeks away at Ransomville Speedway as May 6 will mark the 54th year of operation at the Big R, located along Lake Ontario in the small hamlet of Ransomville. Coming off their best season ever the management of Ransomville Speedway is busy putting the finishing touches on what they hope will top the successes of a year ago.
Those plans include the ongoing renewal of sponsorship programs. One such sponsor is Ki-Po Chevrolet of Ransomville.
Ki-Po is recognized a major supporter of racing at the Big R and sponsors local racers who compete in the Streetstock ranks. These races feature Ki-Po bonus dollars offered to the top 11 in Streetstock points, $300 of which is awarded to the division champion. An additional $50 is awarded to those finishing in the second through the 11th positions. Ki-Po bonus checks are presented in addition to the Big R's 50/50 point fund at the season- ending banquet, to be held this year on Friday, Oct. 28.
In addition to the division sponsorship, Ki-Po Chevrolet billboards can be found in the Big R parking lot, along the spectator entranceway, and along turns one and two facing the speedway surface. This year Ki-Po will be displaying two new cars or trucks weekly at the entrance of the grandstand and take part in a weekly give-away program.
Wrate Mechanical Services Inc. has joined forces with the Big R once again this season as a company night sponsor. On Friday, June 3, Wrate Mechanical Services Inc. will present a full card of racing plus the Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers, a Streetstock mechanics race, and a go-kart exhibition. Wrate will also have a grandstand billboard along the entrance walkway.
These sponsors join the growing list of Big R supporters, including Sahlens Hotdogs, the official hotdog of Ransomville Speedway for more than a decade that returns for 2011, plus Internet search engine FindItQuick.com.
Stay tuned for more as the Big R readies for Opening Day.
