'Operation Whiter Brighter,' now in its fifth year, continues through April 22

For each of the last four Valentine's Days, Dr. Stuart J. Weinstein has presented a check for several thousand dollars to the Family Support Center at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Weinstein's philanthropic endeavor, known as "Operation Whiter Brighter," typically donates proceeds from his dental office's professional tooth-whitening procedures that take place during January to help local servicemen and women and their families.

However, thanks to a still-recovering economy and a dose of extreme winter weather, Weinstein is extending the offer to assist local military families in need.

"We have decided to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from all tooth-whitenings through Easter to the Niagara Falls Air Base," said Weinstein, a New York City native who relocated to Western New York in 1983. "Given the circumstances, we wanted to make sure that we were able to raise as much money as possible for those who are nobly serving our country overseas. The residents of the area are always very supportive of this program, as they understand that it benefits a great cause."

Advanced Dental's custom fit whitening system is only $136, with all proceeds directly benefiting the 914th United States Air Force Reserve Base. It is not restricted to current patients of Advanced Dental. Contributors also may purchase tooth-whitening gift certificates as gifts for friends and family.

Previously located in the Milpine Plaza at the corner of Military Road and Niagara Falls Boulevard, Weinstein moved his practice to a brand new, 2,600-square-foot facility at 9501 Niagara Falls Blvd., just a half mile down the street in 2009. The state-of-the-art building offers patients a family-friendly atmosphere with a spacious waiting area, wireless Internet access and large, comfortable examination areas.
