For the past several years Firth's Jewelers of Niagara Falls has been providing track champions of Ransomville Speedway with awards at the Big R's season ending banquet. Champion's watches engraved with "Ransomville Speedway Champion" and the year are awarded to the five titlists, while their significant others are recognized with a racer's bracelet. Miss Ransomville also receives a bracelet as a token of the speedway's appreciation.
The Big R management reported this week that the tradition will continue in 2011.
Ransomville Speedway also announced that Destino's Pizza and Pasta, located on Creek Road in the Town of Porter, will continue as a presenting sponsor of the traditional Harold Rinehart Memorial Poster Contest and Kid's Rides. "Destino's recognizes the community involvement of this event, which has been going on for as long as one can remember," says Tana Robinson, marketing and public relations director for Ransomville Speedway.
She reported that Regional Haulage joined the Ransomville family of sponsors in 2010 and were quickly impressed. "You guys treated us so good," Josie Rizzardo told Big R management. "We are definitely doing it again this year."
For 2011, Regional Haulage will serve as the main sponsor for Anthony Rizzardo's 358 Modified team. Rizzardo made the move from Sportsman to the 358s in 2010 and earned the Rookie of the Year honors at the season-ending banquet. Look for his No. 99 entry once again this season at Ransomville Speedway.
Atwal Eye Care also came on as a new sponsor in 2010 and is looking to continue the program in 2011. On Friday, Sept. 2, Atwal Eye Care will entertain its customers, employees, family and friends via the Bud Tower suites as a presenting sponsor. The Sept. 2 championship night for modifieds and sportsmen will host extra distance events in addition to the Streetstocks and 4 cylinders.
In pit notes, the Big R reports its rules and membership meeting is Sunday, Feb. 27, its annual test, tune, and time trials is Friday, April 29, and opening day 2011 is Friday, May 6.
