The Town of Wheatfield Local Waterfront Revitalization Program is inviting residents in the riverfront communities along River Road, and other interested parties to attend a community focus meeting on Thursday, Feb. 10.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) at Frontier Volunteer Fire Hall on Liberty Drive. Wendy Salvati, from Wendel Duscherer Architects and Engineers, will make a presentation for the town on the program.

Public comments on waterfront issues and opportunities that affect life and land use in this area are being sought. The information gathered will help the committee finalize the policies, findings and recommendations in the draft Town of Wheatfield LWRP.

In August of 2009, the town began preparation of an LWRP, an extension of the New York State Coastal Management Program, to help manage land use activities along the town's prominent waterways, and to help the town to secure grants for potential public projects along the waterfront.

The LWRP boundary includes the lands along the riverfront and the properties that border the north side of River Road.

For additional information on this meeting or the LWRP project, contact Town Attorney Robert O'Toole. The LWRP document and maps will be posted at the meeting and also on the town's website, www.wheatfield.ny.us, and http://wheatfieldwaterfrontassociation.org. Those who cannot attend the meeting are welcome to offer written comments addressed to O'Toole.
