Obit -- Jean Hoover

Jean Hoover, 80, of Grand Island, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, surrounded by loving family members.

Hoover was born and raised in Buffalo. She was the kind of woman who never met a stranger and always had kind words to say about everyone.

Hoover retired from the Grand Island School District after 35 years, taught at Sheridan Parkside Community Center, and was a past deacon at Faith United Presbyterian Church. She and her husband, Ralph, wintered in Florida the past 15 years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Hoover was committed to her family and took pride in being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She has left a godly legacy to her husband, Ralph; children: Kathleen Applegate (Harold), Donald Hoover (Darlene), Kenneth Hoover (Babette), and Nancy Anderson; grandchildren: Danielle, Kate, Sarah, Tim, Ben, Shaun, Justin, Delene, Aimee, Renee, David and Tommy; great-grandchildren: Morgan, Ava, Corban, Tessa, Cassidy and Teagan. Also, her brothers, Irving (Mary) and Robert (Marlys); her sister and best friend, Diana (Fred); along with many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
