Lions Peace Poster Contest now under way

The Lions Clubs of District 20-N is now in its yearly effort to raise awareness on the need for world peace, according to Dennis Fulton-Sears, Peace Post chair, Lions Clubs of District 20-N.

As part of this, the Wilson Lions Club is presenting an exhibition of posters in the annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Entry is free and available to all ages. The exhibit continues until Oct. 31 at the Wilson House Restaurant & Inn at 300 Lake St., Wilson.

Starting Nov. 7 and continuing through Nov. 28, area Lions Clubs will be exhibiting winning posters at the Kenan Center, 433 Locust St., Lockport. The exhibition officially opens on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 6 p.m. inside The Gallery. It will be closed Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day. From Nov. 17-21, The Gallery will be taken down as the Kenan Center Arts Council hosts its annual Holiday Gift Show, and will use the entire campus. The exhibition will reopen and continue until Nov. 28.

More than 350,000 entries from around the world are typically received every year for this contest. The grand prizewinner and his parents are flown to New York where they are presented with a prize of $2,500 at the United Nations. Twenty-four runners up are awarded prizes of $500 each.
