The Town of Niagara Business and Professional Association's seventh annual Niagara Electric Lights Parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, on Military Road  (Fourth Street to the Kmart parking lot) in the Town of Niagara.

TNBPA, along with Allied, the Niagara USA Chamber, HSBC, Niagara-Wheatfield Kiwanis and United Way of Niagara are continuing the tradition of the parade, making this year's theme "Honor United Way of Greater Niagara" and all of its agencies. The goal of the parade is to raise a ton of food to feed the hungry through the Soup Kitchen and Homeless Shelter at Community Missions of Niagara Frontier.

The food will be collected prior to the day of the parade at the United Way office and at Tops, both located on Military Road. During the Electric Lights Parade, there will be firemen walking the parade route to collect food with shopping carts donated by Wegmans.

Last year alone, Community Missions served more than 67,000 meals to the hungry of Niagara. Last year, the parade raised more than 750 pounds of food. This year, the goal is a ton of food. For more information on the food drive, contact Katie Trombley at 285-3403, ext 2225.

  • TNBPA is also looking for additional parade participants. Call Maria Cardamone of the Niagara USA Chamber at 285-9141, ext. 20, or Gary Strenkoski at 550-0673, or go online for an application at www.tnpba.com.
