Michael J. Freedman has been named to the newly established position of assistant director of public relations and manager of online content at Niagara University. In this position, he will serve as a liaison for print and broadcast media, coordinate internal communication initiatives and establish and implement a plan for all online content, including the university website and all social media sites operated by the university.

Freedman brings a strong background in media relations, website content management, graphic design, marketing and communications to the position. A graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, he most recently served as the director of communications at St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute in Buffalo.

Previously, he held the same position at Artpark in Lewiston.

"Mike brings a well-rounded skill set to Niagara University," said Tom Burns, associate vice president for public relations, communications and marketing at NU. "His wide range of experience in communications, including in an educational setting, coupled with his enthusiasm and contacts make him a perfect complement to the current staff in our department."

Freedman, who resides with his wife and 6-month-old daughter in the Town of Niagara, commenced his duties at Niagara University on Aug. 9.
