Lewiston No. 1 Volunteer Fire Co. is putting out the request to the community for a different type of assistance -- donated junked vehicles.

Fire Co. Chief John Penzotti reports that Lewiston No. 1 would like a few extra-junked vehicles on hand for training purposes.

"With metal prices they way they are, we're finding junkers a little harder to come by," he says. Thus Lewiston No. 1's quest for donations.

Sought are junked vehicles, vans or trucks for fire company member training, such as the "Jaws of Life" accident scene operations and fire extinguishing. The vehicles need not be in running order and the fire company will pick up at no cost. And all donations are tax deductible.

For further information, contact Penzotti at 754-8477.
