The Lewiston/Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Club has presented a $500 donation to the Lewiston Council on the Arts as a token of appreciation and support of community service to Lewiston and the Niagara Region. The Lewiston Council on the Arts and the Village of Lewiston have provided their stamp of approval to the Lewiston/Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Club in their hosting of Art of Ribs 2010, which is going to be held in Academy Park the weekend of the 44th annual Lewiston Art Festival, Aug. 14-15. Rotary will donate proceeds from this fundraising event to the Mount St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, Breast Care Center and Maternity Ward.

The up to 30,000 visitors that attend the Lewiston Art Festival will now enjoy a BBQ/Rib Festival that Rotary hopes to make an annual event. The Art of Ribs will be open into the evening on both days, so that visitors can prolong their stay after the art festival ends at 5 p.m. and enjoy wonderful BBQ, foods, beer and entertainment. A dedicated tent for BBQ judging will be on site in Academy Park for rib tasting and judging for the People's Choice Award, which is open to the general, public, and the Certified KCBS Judging Team's Awards.

LCA reports that within the next few weeks, the Art of Ribs will have an exclusive site on Facebook providing more details about the event, opportunities for both sponsorship and judging, and links to the Lewiston/Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Club and Rotary International. Rotary International is a worldwide non-profit organization whose motto is "Service Above Self" and has been the world's leading source for the eradication of polio worldwide.
