Buffalo ranked in top 10 for 'Best Cities for Easter'

WalletHub has ranked Buffalo as No. 7 in its "Best Cities for Easter" poll.

The Queen City earned a cumulative score of 59.49 (top-ranked St. Louis received a 70.16). Per 100,000 residents, it rated at the top city for "Number of Candy Shops" and "Number of Chocolate Shops." Buffalo was No. 5 for "Easter Observers," No. 7 for "Number of Churches," No. 9 for "Share of Christian Population," No. 12 for "Easter Traditions" and No. 85 for "Easter Weather."

In a press release, the personal-finance website stated, "WalletHub's number crunchers compared the 100 largest cities across 11 key metrics, ranging from Easter egg-hunt events per capita to Easter weather forecast."

It also released these Easter facts and stats:

  • 1st - Easter's rank among the most popular Church days of the year (51.9 percent of adults plan to attend)
  • $152 - Average Easter spending by each person celebrating
  • 52.4 percent - Share of Americans who say the Easter Bunny came before the Easter egg
  • 88.7 percent - Share of Americans who believe the proper way to eat a chocolate Easter Bunny is ears first
  • 81 Percent - Share of parents who steal Easter candy from their kids' baskets
