Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello is joining forces with Grand Island's volunteer fire fighters and the Red Cross to host a blood drive on Tuesday, March 28, at Grand Island Fire Hall, located at 2275 Baseline Road. Morinello is asking for residents of the 145th District to come together, give back and help save lives.

"Donating blood is a small gesture that can have an enormous impact on another person's life," Morinello said. "I encourage anyone who is able to contribute to the cause to join us on March 28 and help a person in dire need.

"I want to give a special thanks to Grand Island's volunteer firefighters, as well as the Red Cross for partnering with me for this event, and I know that by working together we can save the lives of those in need.

The Red Cross states that, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. is in need of blood, and nearly 21 million blood components are transfused in the U.S. each year. Those interested in participating can call ahead for an appointment at 1-800-Red Cross or visit redcrossblood.org. Walk-ins are also welcome. The firehall's doors will be open from 1-6:30 p.m.
