Community Foundation accepting applications for 2017 grants

More than $1,000,000 will be awarded to Western New York nonprofit organizations through competitive grants processes

TheCommunity Foundation for Greater Buffalo is now accepting letters of intent for 2017 competitive grant processes that support the following areas of interest:

• Improve educational achievement for students living in low-income households

•Increase racial/ethnic equity

•Enhance and leverage significant natural resources, with priorities determined by the shared agenda for the environment

•Strengthen the region as a center for architecture, arts and culture

•Caregiving

•Community assets

•Design and access

•Youth sports

Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located within the eight counties of Western New York. For caregiving, government agencies may also apply. For community assets, only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that reside in Erie County may apply.

These grant opportunities are just a piece of the Community Foundation's annual investment in Western New York, which totaled over $14 million in 2015. The Community Foundation holds over 800 funds with nearly $350 million in total assets. It is one of the region's largest grantmakers.
