Nussbaumer & Clarke Inc., one of the region's oldest engineering and land-surveying firms, has realigned its top executives and transferred ownership. Michael F. Smith, PE, president, will be stepping down after 24 years with the firm, but will continue to support the firm's business development in a consulting role. Michael J. Borowiak, PLS, will assume the position of president. Michael T. Marino, PE, will become the firm's CEO.

The firm began in 1933 when Newell Nussbaumer and Irving Clarke founded it.

With this realignment, Nussbaumer & Clarke reaffirms its dedication to its core mission to remain a locally owned and operated professional services corporation invested in the area's future growth.

Borowiak resides in Orchard Park and has been with the firm since 1987, working as a field technician, land-surveying manager, vice president and, most recently, as CEO of land surveying and land development. Marino, who joined the firm 2015 as CEO - engineering, resides in Wheatfield and has over 20 years of experience, with a heavy concentration in water and municipal design engineering services. He is the engineer for the Village of Lewiston.

Nussbaumer & Clarke operates five offices throughout Western New York (Buffalo, East Aurora, North Tonawanda, Dunkirk and Ellicottville), and has 75 employees. While the firm is best known for its municipal engineering and land surveying, it is well-qualified to provide smart design solutions for civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, heating, plumbing, transportation, stormwater, wastewater, water and land development projects, as well as site planning and construction support services.
