Downtown Niagara Falls corridor to be lit for season

Community event featuring Seneca Niagara, Niagara Catholic High School choir & Buffalo Seminary Semachords

The community is invited to attend Friday's Seneca Niagara holiday tree lighting ceremony (in sequence with Old Falls Street, USA) set to take place at Seneca Square (in front of Seneca Niagara Hotel & Casino), 310 Fourth St., Niagara Falls. The event begins at 5 p.m., and the ceremony will feature a 35-foot blue spruce and local choirs from Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School as well as Buffalo Seminary Semachords keeping the holiday spirit going as attendees enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and cookies. This community event is free and open to the public.

Schedule of events:

  • 5-6:30 p.m. Refreshments/cookies
  • 5:15-6:15 p.m. Choirs sing on the walkway intermittently
  • 6:15 p.m. Remarks from leadership
  • 6:20-6:30 p.m. Tree lighting, with Niagara Catholic and Buffalo Seminary choirs singing "Silent Night."

Neighboring activities guests can enjoy that evening include Old Falls Street unveiling its new holiday décor along its three blocks, including new tree and snowflake illuminations, large red ornaments and snowflakes on the middle block. A 24-foot Christmas tree also accompanies a children's train ride on the middle block. Train rides are free for children on Fridays through Sundays through Dec. 23. These times coincide with the Gingerbread Wonderland programming hosted inside the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.
