Celebrate the life-changing transformation experienced by people who have undergone bariatric weight loss surgery at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. They will be the stars of a fashion show at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.

The event will be held at Antonio's Banquet & Conference Center, 7708 Niagara Falls Blvd., Niagara Falls.

The models are participants in Memorial's minimally invasive bariatric weight loss surgery program. Each has lost a great deal of weight - well over 100 pounds in many cases - and experienced remarkable improvements in health as a result.

Being chosen as models allows them to celebrate their journey and tell some compelling stories about the changes they've experienced.

Former patient and Niagara Falls resident Jeanette Howell said the program has given her a new lease on life.

"I am no longer on insulin, into my jeans, able to travel, work and enjoy life," she said.

The models will display fashions provided by the show's show sponsors, Talbots Upscale Outlet and Eddie Bauer.

"This fashion show is an inspirational celebration of the success our patients and their families have experienced as the result of making the commitment to live healthier lives," said Dr. Bala Thatigotla, one of the program's surgeons. "It's an opportunity for the public see first-hand how minimally invasive weight loss surgery can transform a person's life."

The show is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. To reserve seating, call 716-278-4604.
