NT Fall Festival returns with more children's activities

Fri, Sep 30th 2016 10:00 am

The North Tonawanda Department of Youth, Recreation and Parks in association with Christian Academy of Western New York will hold the fifth annual NT Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at 789 Gilmore Ave. (home of CAWNY and the NT school administration building).

The free indoor and outdoor event will feature an array of children's activities and a craft and vendor show, including over 30 displays. Also featured will be live music and entertainment and a raffle with approximately 60 prizes including baskets and gift cards.

The event is free to the public and some games, activities and all food and beverage will be available for purchase.

One section of the festival will be geared specifically towards children, including fall festival-themed games and prize stations, an inflatable fun zone, face painting, pumpkin patch, hay maze and other seasonal offerings.

"We are excited about the event this year," Youth Coordinator Alex Domaradzki said. "We've added a couple of new pieces to our event that will help add to its allure, including a kiddie Ferris Wheel, giant slide and chainsaw carving demonstrations by Clair Talbot of Critter Crossing Creations."

The North Tonawanda Fire Department will be on hand with several demonstrations and informative stations and a flu shot clinic will be available, as well.

Participants can bring a non-perishable food item to donate toward a food drive for the NT Interchurch Food Pantry. In return, they will receive a free game ticket.

"The beauty of our event is we have an elaborate indoor set up so, even if the weather doesn't cooperate, the public can be dry and comfortable while participating in all we have to offer," said Cindy Lichtenburger, principal of CAWNY and one of the event's organizers. "We are just happy to be a part of blessing the community with an event that promotes fun and family, all without breaking the bank."

Proceeds from the event will go toward CAWNY programs, the NT Youth Board Scholarship Fund and youth programs provided by the board.
