The first Village Open in about five years took place Tuesday, Sept. 13, with 25 golfers playing nine holes of golf at Beaver Island State Park.
According to participant Gary Roesch, "The course is (in) the best condition that it has been in years."
Tee time started at 11:30 a.m. followed by food and refreshments at the Village Inn, where owner Mike Carr "went over and above with his hospitality and food," said Roesch.
The top golfer, who gets his name on the plaque, was Dennis Dahl with a 39. Dahl was followed by Dave Scruggs and Kevin Slachciak, each with 41, and Scott Kalman with a 45. High score was Gary Roesch with an honest 68.
The golfers thanked Carr and said they look forward to continuing the Village Inn tradition in 2017.
