NCSO reveals Labor Day DWI crackdown enforcement

From Aug. 19 through Sept. 5, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Niagara Falls Police Department, North Tonawanda Police Department, New York State Park Police, Middleport Police Department, Lockport Police Department, Lewiston Police Department, Town of Niagara Police Department, Somerset Police Department and Youngstown Police Department all participated in the "Labor Day National DWI Crackdown Enforcement." All agencies involved utilized increased patrol units, which were specifically designated for DWI enforcement.

Ten people across Niagara County were arrested during this time frame for driving while intoxicated. These extra patrol units also had an additional 10 arrests and issued approximately 198 traffic tickets.

Future "crackdown" periods are already scheduled in 2016 with all agencies being involved.
