LPD seeks Explorers

Lewiston Police Department news finds the community's "Invest in a Vest" campaign is continuing.

Organizer Claudia Marasco, who is spearheading the fundraiser with fellow village resident Arlene Sliz, reported more than $4,000 has been collected thus far, and that donations are still being accepted.

•The LPD Explorers recruitment drive is underway and is geared toward high school-age students, with an interest in a career in law enforcement. Applications are now being accepted for fall.

Lewiston Police Officer Brian Hall said Explorer program activities include: "Patrolling 101," CPR and first aid certification, criminal justice, use of force continuum, leadership, defensive tactics, vehicle and traffic stops, range and gun safety, patrol-based scenarios, ride-alongs with patrol and handcuffing techniques.
