Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce develops local television program, 'Roam The Region'

The Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce has announced the launch of a new television program, "Roam The Region," which highlights chamber members and their business or service that they provide throughout the community.

The new program's creation was a vision of Sales and Marketing Manager Christina Crane, who has spent the past few months creating partnerships to make the show come to life.

Crane began a series of meetings with Dr. Mark Barner, chairman of the communication studies department at Niagara University, and Rich Meranto, media production coordinator from Niagara Falls High School. She discussed her vision and how she wanted to develop a partnership with both departments. Crane's plan included having Barner and Meranto's students do the filming, editing and post-production of each show.

Each episode of the show will have in-studio interviews and on-location segments with chamber members. In addition, some additional student work will be included in the program. The first episode of the show will feature Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course, Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours/Niagara Sunset Cruises, and The Roaming Table: Lewiston Culinary Tours.

The program will air on the Our Schools Channel (OSC 21) for Time Warner Cable customers, on the chamber's website page and social media pages, the Niagara Falls School District website, and Niagara University's Ridge Report. "Roam The Region" is set to air later this month, and new episodes will air every month.

Crane, who is a former communication and media student with both Barner at Niagara University and Meranto at Niagara Falls High School, sees this project as a double benefit, giving something back to chamber members, promoting their business/service, and giving students the opportunity to gain experience with internship and project credit.

Crane will host and write the show, but as the program grows, she hopes to mentor students with writing segments and co-host duties.

"Christina's creative vision and experience has resulted in this new program that we are excited to offer to our chamber members and the community," said Jennifer Pauly, president of the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce. "This type of promotion for our members can serve as a valuable tool to market our region to encourage community growth in many different avenues, including tourism, real estate, business development and more. I think the business community will be impressed with the television program and the work that Christina, Dr. Barner, Mr. Meranto and the students have done."
