F-Bites culinary program, NURT performances make return engagements this month

The summer may be winding down, but Old Falls Street continues to host additional free programming on Friday afternoons in August. Making return visits are the "F-Bites" culinary youth vocational program, as well as live performances by Niagara University Repertory Theatre (NURT).

F-Bites will be presented from noon to 1 p.m. Fridays, Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26. The program is facilitated by chef Bobby Anderson, a Niagara Falls native who competed on the television show "Hell's Kitchen" with Gordon Ramsay. Anderson leads a student culinary team in preparing a gourmet meal, while integrating various front- and back-of-house restaurant techniques, leadership skills and interactive fun. Guests will be treated to samples of the meal prepared on-site, served by the participants.

In addition, Old Falls Street welcomes back NURT, with a live performance rom 2:30-3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, and again on Friday, Aug. 19, from 1-1:30 p.m. NURT is comprised of Niagara University performance majors who play dozens of characters from well-known children's books. Their fast-paced humorous performances have been delighting audiences for nearly 40 years.

"We encourage families to bring their children to enjoy these regional activities as well as Old Falls Street's series of Interactive Games," said Katie Kielaszek, Old Falls Street's director of events. "We are happy to partner with chef Bobby again this summer as well as host additional appearances by the ever-popular troupe of NURT performers."
